Who We Are
Verum Legalis serves as Occidental College’s premier undergraduate law review. Since its founding in 2024, Verum Legalis has provided a platform for legal analyses, commentaries, and scholarship. In alignment with the liberal arts tradition, Verum Legalis encourages interdisciplinary approaches to the law, including analyses that draw from the sciences, sociology, philosophy, and more.
Our Mission
Our mission is to contribute to contemporary law-related discussions through the formation and distribution of legal scholarship. For our members, we strive to sharpen legal research and writing, hone their abilities to analyze complex legal issues and arguments, and offer a platform to express their legal perspectives in a well-articulated fashion. Our approach is threefold:
To Publish: Provide a platform for undegraduate legal scholarship. We aim to publish well-researched original work that contributes to contemporary legal conversations.
To Educate: Demystify the legal field for the Occidental community. Through our publication, speaker events, and workshops, we seek to make complex legal topics accessible and to reveal various pathways to a career in law.
To Develop: Cultivate foundational skills for future legal professionals. The editorial board is committed to a collaborative editorial process that hones our members’ abilities in critical thinking, analytical writing, and in-depth research, preparing them for the rigors of law school and beyond.
